SYDNEY, New South Wales — August. 18, 2010 — Citrus Media announced today that Game Informer is officially the biggest games magazine in Australia. The June 2010 ABC audit revealed that the magazine has sold an average of 24,021 copies per issue during the period. This amazing result has come after only seven issues, with the magazine not only establishing itself as the first port of call for Australian gamers but in the process, it has also redefined the local editorial landscape.

Jim Flynn, Game Informer's publisher, expects this growth to continue: “To rise from zero to over 24,000 sales in only seven months is an incredible achievement. An eager take-up at newsstand has been supported by extremely strong subscription numbers to deliver a stellar result. We've been able to consistently deliver world class editorial for only $4.95, and it costs as little as $30 to subscribe. This deal is made even more attractive by the inclusion of a free EB Games Edge + Card for readers who subscribe through EB Games' stores. I expect this growth to continue with a busy Christmas period ahead.”

Local editor Chris Stead was equally ecstatic: "We set ourselves some lofty ambitions when we entered the marketplace nine months ago and I'm proud that we've kept our word during these difficult economic times. I feel like we've delivered on our promises to the Australian gaming public and the local industry while establishing ourselves as a vital link between the game makers, and the consumers. The feedback we're getting from our readers is extremely positive: they love our coverage of the Australian industry and respect our unbiased, mature approach to games journalism. But this is just the start and the roadmap we've got planned out for the coming twelve months will take your breath away."

Game Informer Australia's team of Chris Stead and Adam Mathew make the most of the content that Game Informer generates all over the world, but the focus is 100% on Australia. Their mission: “To give Australian gamers the respect they deserve by getting them access to the biggest and best world exclusives first, and to ensure that the local scene gets representation in the world’s number one gaming publication.”

Game Informer's ninth issue is out now, featuring the world's first information on upcoming blockbuster Batman: Arkham City, as well as hands-on tests of Halo: Reach's single player campaign and PlayStation Move's launch roster. It also includes the world's first review of Metroid: Other M and a studio visit to the developer who is reimagining the beloved GoldenEye game. In addition, the issue comes with two collector's covers, and there is an opportunity to grab a gorgeous poster if you follow the instructions on the opening spread from this Saturday, the 21st of August.
